As a Deputy Sheriff Trainee (Adult Detention), you will attend the 6-week Adult Correction Officer Academy. We have 4 academies a year which start in February, May, August, and October. Once you complete your application process, you will be assigned to the next available academy.
Over the course of 6 weeks, you will learn a wide range topic necessary for you to be successful in your career. The academy will test you both physically and mentally. In order to be successful, we recommend you start preparing in advance.
To prepare physically for the Academy we recommend the following:

- Cardio, Cardio, Cardio!!
Throughout 6 weeks of the Academy, you will be overseen by the Adult Detention's Training Staff. You will meet and learn from serval different experienced instructors and be put in realistic scenarios to help better preform when the real situation is in front of you.
